Alright you cosmic wanderers, welcome back to Stray Star Radio. I'm Nohstep, and tonight we've got a transmission coming in hot from the team at Fallen Signal Studio.
Big moves. Big milestones. And a whole lot of heart.
Let's get into it.
Demo Bound for GDC
Several members of the team are packing up and heading to the GDC Indie Pavilion at this year's Festival of Games in San Francisco. This represents more than just a booth and banner, this is stepping up to the big leagues. It's the moment where all the late nights, rewrites, bug hunts, and caffeine-fueled brainstorms meet real players face-to-face.
And this year, the demo chapter of Sovereign Call Origins is stepping into that spotlight.
Next month, the team will be sharing lessons learned from the floor and what this milestone unlocked creatively.
Update on the Steam Demo
The team really wants to put its best foot forward with you, the players. So they've pushed back the release date of the public demo until later this year. For now stay tuned to updates of exciting things in the pipeline. Speaking of...
Building this Kingdom Together
Over the next week, expect the media tab to light up from gameplay footage, trailers, and wallpapers. The team has a lot of exciting things in the pipeline including a merchandise store; Posters. Art prints. Various ways to rep the King in your real-world space.
On top of that? The official Sovereign Call Kickstarter campaign is launching soon. The best chance for the community to actively shape what comes next. Support translates into tangible benefits. Access. Rewards. A stake in the journey.
If you've been waiting for a way to step deeper into the signal: Here it is!
Sitting Down with Faye: Dual Wielding Badass
Let's talk about one of the voices behind the world.
This week I sat down (virtually) with one of the team members who wears two very different hats: administrative backbone and narrative writer for Selene Veyne - one of the game's central characters.
And the duality? Fascinating.
Nohstep: You juggle narrative writing for Selene Veyne alongside a pretty significant administrative role. That's two very different mental gears. How do you personally balance the creative side of your brain with the organizational side?
Faye: "For me, my creative side and organizational side stem from much the same place. I can't be truly creative without some level of structure. I usually start with an outline or a checklist, and that gives my creative brain the freedom to work without the stress of chaos or clutter."
Nohstep: From your perspective, how does that admin work actually support the creative process for the rest of the team?
Faye: "My admin role creates structure and order so the rest of the team can easily find information and resources, or reach out to the right person for their needs. I keep an up-to-date log of members and their roles so leads know who they have on their teams. I personally thrive in structured environments, so I try to create that same structure for others who benefit from it."
Nohstep: A writer for the Reformation valuing structure and order? Color me shocked. Speaking of; when you're writing for Selene, what part of the world or story are you most excited to help shape?
Faye: "Writing for Selene has been a phenomenal opportunity. I felt an immediate connection to her as someone who also thrives in logic and order. Watching her struggles, her growth, and her development has been a really soulful experience. I'm most excited to see how she changes over time - whether that's for better or worse."
Nohstep: One of the studio's values is about making worlds where players feel like they belong. How does that idea show up in your narrative choices?
Faye: "Belonging comes from connection, and connection is born from investment and engagement. I try to show authentic reactions and interactions so players feel immersed. I want them to see real people and real perspectives in our characters - so they can find pieces of themselves there, or feel a kinship with someone important to them."
Nohstep: Without spoilers - what emotional journey are you hoping players experience through Selene's story?
Faye: "I hope players experience her as more than a voice or a script. She'll face struggles that shake her to her core, moments where she feels lost or broken, and times when she wishes things could go back to how they were. I want players to stick with her - to feel her setbacks, sympathize with her, and see how hard it can be to just be human. The struggle is always worth it, even when the light feels far away."
Nohstep: Finally - looking ahead, what are you most excited for players to experience?
Faye: "I'm most excited for players to see the vast worlds and stories we're creating. A little piece of each of us went into this game, and I can't wait for players to connect with us through it."
Nohstep: That's a perfect note to end on. Faye, thank you for sharing your voice, your process, and your heart.
That's all for tonight's transmission, star travelers.
Keep your eyes on Steam for the demo drop. Watch for media updates. And if you want to help this signal grow louder, keep an ear out for the Kickstarter launch.
This has been Nohstep on Stray Star Radio.
